3 Possible Futures

Posted by on Apr 26, 2013

What is entropy? How do we use an understanding of present, past, and future to untangle probable outcomes for biological life, now? Ordered matter usually moves toward chaos – but the Universe always organizes itself. These are called isomorphic cycles. In yoga, they are called

yugas – or ages.  Sri Yukteswar talked abut this often. He once said, “Forget the past. The vanished lives of all men are dark with many shames. Human conduct is ever unreliable until man is anchored in the Divine. Everything in future will improve if you are making a spiritual effort now.” It is a testament to how much yogis understood science, too, since he also once remarked, “yoga is not assimilated with the eyes, but with atoms.” Yoga as science, I think not. Yoga is Science. In this lecture by Jonathan Barlow Gee, we can understand the current levels of seeming chaos in the world from a wider perspective, perhaps not as universally as yogis like Yukteswar did, but this lecturer comes close.
